currently... back from the dead

I don't live to destroy, but I am back from the dead. Or what seemed like me being dead the last two weeks. So sorry that I have been MIA. I will do my best to not let that happen again! So what better post to do than a "currently" post to get you up to speed on the on goings around the Pelletier household..

Thinking about: too many things! I have some crazy exciting news regarding the business. I'm still in shock and awe about! I'll be sharing over the next week or so, just have a few small things to hash out before jinxing anything. I'm also coming up with deodorant recipes and my version of "tattoo goo". The "tattoo goo" is already a recipe I have already made and developed, the mister loves it- I'm just working on the packaging and labeling. So that should be out shortly. Also thinking about our gardens. We started working on them this past weekend. Nothing too exciting to share yet. But definitely some before and progress pictures will be taken over the next few weeks. It's raining and yucky out the last couple days, so that will wait til the sun comes back to join us.

Reading: Trying to get caught up on blogs from the past two weeks. I really was MIA from it all, so I'm slowly reading back blog posts. I'm sure I've missed a lot of what's been happening. If you had something super awesome going on you want me to know about please share!

Listening to: complete and total silence. The mister went over to one of our friends houses tonight, so I'm home alone getting caught up on sending and packaging orders, reading a bit, writing posts and once I'm done here will be starting on a special project for a friend. I like quiet nights, just me and the girls. Sometimes we watch "girl tv" - ie Brothers and Sisters - my new guilty pleasure now that I have finished watching Greys Anatomy.

Looking forward to: Saturday. Guys it's finally here! The Farmer's Market opens this Saturday!!! I'm so excited and a bit nervous. I feel like I have a million things left to do but not really sure where to begin. So we'll see! This past weekend when we drove out to the last of the Winter indoor market, we stopped in the park to check out my spot. It is awesome!! Prime location. I couldn't be happier where it is. The only thing that would have made me happier is if we were across from our friends Kelly and Adam so that we could hang out during the day, but it's ok. I'm really happy with where we were placed.

Watching: We have been watching Hemlock Grove. Anyone else watching it on Netflix? I'm really liking it so far. I think we are roughly half way through. We are trying to spread out the episodes and not watch too many in a row. We also started watching Fringe. I had never seen it, or even heard of it when we still had tv/cable. It's with Joshua Jackson, pretty decent show, reminds me a lot of X-Files with a twist. That JJ Abrams guy must be a gazillionaire.

Making me happy: The news I will be sharing about The Hive. The thought of spring finally being here and being able to crochet outside while the mister grills our dinner. Working in the garden, watching things starting to grow. And of course, the thoughts of this weekend. Have I said how excited, yet somewhat terrified I am?! Okay. I promise to stop saying "this weekend" or "saturday" again in this post! haha

What are you currently up to? If you post a "currently" on your blog, please link me to it so I can read it.

Again so sorry about the long absence, hope nobody bailed on me because of it! I'm back and have lots of awesome things to be sharing over the next few months now with garden weather being here, so stick around.

Currently...

Thinking about: My new blog, new items that I'm currently working on to have released within the next month and how I really do not want to go back to work on Monday. Normally vacations fly by. This one didn't actually. It was just the right pace and I was able to relax, but still get a lot done. It was perfect. Next vacation comes up in June. Hopefully it is equally as awesome.

Reading: Garden books, lots and lots of garden lay out books. We are in full force of getting our gardens laid out and planned. We've even started eggplant and broccoli. None of the eggplant have sprouted yet though, so it's making me a little sad that we got dud seeds or something?

Listening to: Lots of NPR radio podcasts. Kevin has always been a huge NPR fan. Whenever he takes out my car and I go in to drive, the radio is always on a crackly NPR station that only comes in spotily as I drive to work. But at home we listen to it on podcasts - "Wait, wait don't tell me" and "Car talk" can always be heard while we make and eat dinner each night.

Looking forward to: May 4th. Why? It's the kick off of the Hamilton Farmer's Market and I can not wait to finally have a booth this year. I find out on the 15th of this month, by lottery, of where my plot will be. I have my fingers crossed we end up near our friends, Kelly and Adam. I should find out next week, so excited!

Watching: Lots of documentaries (they will be listed under "watching" each week of course) but we also just finished watching Season 2 of "The Killing" and "Breakout Kings". That's the only thing bad (or good) about Netflix is that you can fly through a season in a matter of days if you really want to. They just put up Season 5 (I think it's 5, anyway) of Mad Men. So we are working on that too. I only allow ourselves to watch one episode every few days to try and make it last a little longer though haha. I'm also watching "Freaks and Geeks" entire season again. I honestly don't think I can count how many times I've watched it. haha. Any suggestions on shows that are on Netflix I may like. I'm trying to find something that has LOTS of seasons/episodes to keep us busy for a while. I really like crime type of shows.

Making me happy: The sun. I think we may finally be starting spring here. All this past week it snowed. YES! Snowed nearly every day. But it all melted away yesterday and this morning again, sun. Here's to putting the winter officially behind us.

What are you currently up to? If you post a "currently" on your blog, please link me to it so I can read it.

Currently -

I know..tasty tuesdays is supposed to be up today. Believe me, no one is more upset than my mister who late Sunday said "Wait! You didn't bake today. It's still early - better get on it" (It was already 7pm)

The weekend kind of got away from me.  I ended up having to work OT on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a market day (not really anything exciting this weekend - we had to be a bit frugal so it was primarily meat and a few veggies, and eggs of course) Then we headed out and I got a new computer. It's so exciting but taking some getting used to.

It doesn't have a cd rom drive so I almost had a panic attack when I thought I wasn't going to be able to put on my Adobe programs. Lots of downloads (and hours) later I was all set. According to Adobe they wanted me to buy another upgrade so that I could download their newest version. But my version is just fine for what I use. I think it's crap that they tried to pull that. I mean my god, I spent over $500 the last time (and that was JUST the upgrade, we already had programs prior to that)I'm sorry but the downloads should be made available for us. I have my serial numbers and proof of purchase etc. But whatever, I found a website that had all the links to the actual Adobe servers to get the downloads. And like I said..a few hours later, I have all my programs on my computer.

My computer is pretty neat. Windows 8 is on it. Do you have Windows 8? It's pretty neat on this computer because the screen is also a touch screen. But enough on a silly piece of machinery.. onto my "currently.."

Thinking about: my pretty craptastic day at work and that I don't want another repeat, but know I'm in for one...if not many over the next few weeks. (way to think positive huh?!)

Watching: We just finished watching the season of Coal. It was a reality show on coal miners in West Virginia. It was on a few years ago on Spike tv. Of course we are watching it on streaming Netflix, but maybe you could find reruns on tv? I was really excited about it because I work in the insurance industry and one of my clients is a large coal company. Watching the show actually gave me so much better understanding of the conditions these men work in. I can not even imagine working in those types of conditions. I have a lot of respect for someone that can go underground and work 10-12 hours a day in such dangerous conditions.

Reading: Packing for Mars by Mary Roach. I just started it and really like it so far.  Have you read any of her books? I really wanted to get "Stiff" but my local library only had this one about space travel.

Listening: the humming of my new computer and the mister packing up a box in the other room.

Making: Miniature soaps. Yes, within the next month I will be offering sample sized soaps. I will be selling them in sample packs as well as large quantities for things like baby showers / bridal showers / weddings etc. I'm really excited about this and hope you all are too! More details to come soon.

Anticipating: Relaxing later tonight and doing absolutely nothing but watching a movie and eating popcorn and candy.

Planning: A giveaway! Once I hit either 100 GFC readers or 100 Etsy sales I will be having a little giveaway for you guys. I'm at 91 on both. Which will make it to 100 first?! Either one to the triple digits will be a mini celebration, so a give-away is definitely in order.

Making me happy: this time of night when all the girls are tuckered out from the day and relaxing. well for the most part..until you say "Ella" and she runs over and attacks your face

What are you currently doing?

Currently.

Thinking about: How my Monday is going to go. I have many new changes happening at work this coming week, including a transfer of teams and a new boss. I'm a little bit nervous, a little stressed but mostly anticipating change and going into all this with an open mind.

Watching: Guilty pleasure - Grey's Anatomy season 8 on Netflix. I remember years ago, a woman I worked with raved on and on about this show. McDreamy and Mcthis and Mcthat, she would gush on and on about the show. But I never watched it. Quite a few months ago I started watching it and it became my guilty pleasure to watch while I crochet all my blankets. I've now made it to season 8. Which means I only have about 20 more episodes..then will have to find a new guilty pleasure.

Reading: The Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger. I picked this up the other day at the library, I'm only a few chapters in but I'm really liking it.

Listening: Ella chewing on a bone almost the same size as her while listening for the beep on my toaster oven to let me know my giant cookie is hopefully cooking. The element in my oven died as I was pre-heating it to bake a skillet cookie. I have to wait until our local repair shop opens in the morning in hopes they have one in stock. If not I'll have to place an order for one and be without an oven until one comes in. Thank goodness (and hopefully) this is all that is wrong with it.

Making: A skillet cookie in a toaster oven! Oi! Hopefully it comes out okay seeing that I already had one major baking failure this weekend.

Anticipating: Change, good or bad. Change is inevitable. It's how we handle that change that defines us.

Planning: A possible blog rehaul and face lift. While I love the current look part of me is craving change. A more minimalism, fresh, streamlined look. We'll see. I'm just thinking and planning in my head. I have a gazillion other more important things going on at the moment.. but it's something that may happen..or may not.

Loving: The thought of spring. I know it's still a few months away. But I can't stop thinking about getting our gardens ready..being able to go into my front yard to pick veggies and eat them that night for dinner. Having our outdoor farmers market open again, and this time being a vendor!! I'm excited and can't wait.

Making me happy: My three girls keeping me company this past weekend while the mister went off to Boston. (and stayed an extra day) We had a relaxing, quiet weekend and even a popcorn movie night. Their favorite (and mine)

I also can now finally share with you the blankets I made for Christmas presents. The blue one was for Kevin's parents and the grey one was for his brother and his brother's wife. I didn't really get good pictures because I had forgotten to take any and then the mister was getting ready to leave on friday to go and I grabbed them and took some quick shots.

His parent's blanket was enormous. It turned out being larger than a King sized blanket! It was so huge, but so amazing. I loved how it turned out.

Jason and Jenn's blanket, I wised up and scaled it down a bit. While it was still large (probably Queen sized) it is definitely more manageable! I wrote out the same basic pattern and color rotation of each and am actually in the process of making a blanket for my mom which will be the size of the smaller one. So crazy how different they can look based on the colors used.

Happy Monday all.

(Profile of extremely tiny feet with a purple toe - that weird crease is from my sock My big toe is not deformed in any way)

Thinking about: Too many things. My brain never shuts off. Looking at the picture above, I'm thinking about how weird feet are. Yesterday, while not paying attention, one of the andirons that I use to hold a cabinet door closed tipped and fell smack on my big toe. Pain. Lots of pain was had! It actually hurt the entire day. Now I have a nice purple splotch on my toe nail and my toe is still very puffy and red. Oi!

Watching: At this very moment old episodes of American Pickers on our apple tv thingie-ma-bob. We have also started watching Lost Girl on Netflix. We're on season one. It's not too bad. The name of the show is a little silly. "Lost Girl" would definitely not have been my choice of names, but ah well. It's interesting so far. I tried to get into American Horror Story. I've heard lots of people rave about it and I love horror/scary movies so you would think I wouldn't be able to get enough of it, but I barely made it through the first episode. I don't know, I thought it was terrible.

Reading: Nothing at the moment. I need to get to the library. Make some suggestions.

Listening: Lola snoring and Polly and Ella running around trying to get my attention because they want to be fed.

Wearing: Army pants, green Gama-Go tee-shirt with owls, old JCrew camel colored sweater cute socks (see above)

Making: I've been working on new soap labels for two more new soaps (more to come in the next few weeks on these two special soaps)

Anticipating: Having an extra day off this week. I love Monday holidays. Weekends seem to go by much too fast, if only every week could be a three day weekend. Work would be so much better!

Planning: New blog posts and a relaxing evening crocheting a blanket for my mother

Loving: That there are still some genuinely amazing and giving people out there. It's really refreshing and inspiring. Also I'm loving the crazy haircut I gave Miss Lola yesterday. Her hair gets very tangled and full of dreadlocks - so I take out some of my old scissors from my short/ non-existent stent of being a hair dresser and snip away. Gotta get my use out of $600 scissors somewhere!

I've been seeing these posts for quite a few months and always love reading other bloggers "currentlys". It's ironic because I've been thinking about doing one up and integrating it into my blog (maybe not weekly but on a pretty regular basis) and my buddy Nicole started one up yesterday as well. Great minds think alike. Plus its a known fact that I love lists and planning, so having these all broken down makes me happy too.

Do you do a "currently"? If so post your links, I'd love to read them.
