updates in the front yard..

Our yard is slowly progressing (though we have gotten a lot of rain over the last 2 weeks so things are popping up all over!) We are trying to fill in this front portion as a barrier all with different flowers and small bushes. It's fill in even thicker since taking these photos.

These were all taken last week (I'll be a week behind each week in showing you the progress) But this is the plot with our broccoli, carrots, radishes and lettuce. It is so exciting to see how fast things pop up!

We decided we not only want to have all the boxes full, we also want to give the space dimension by adding large pots filled with goodies all around the yard.

We filled this jumbo pot with eggplant, parsley, basil and thyme. (guess that wasn't in the pot yet when I took the photo haha)

This is pineapple sage. It smells amazing. You know how a lot of the mint plants - chocolate, marshmallow, and citrus varieties - none really smell very strong, you basically just smell "mint" - I always would get so sad when I'd smell them all. But this sage, it smells JUST like pineapple when you rub the leaves. So so good!! It will be awesome come fall when the flowers come out on it. They are supposed to attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

One of the best things I did last summer was move all our irises. They look so awesome lining the backs of the boxes and front of the house (they are on both sides) And this bottom photo is awesome because if you look in the window you can see Polly howling!

Next week I'll give you potato updates, it's getting exciting!!!

How are your gardens coming? I'd love to see where you are at in your garden, if you post about them, share the links so I can check em out.

awww thank you!!! xx - t
Ha! Love the dog in the photo :)
I dream of having a half wine barrel overflowing with strawberries. I have the barrel, I just don't have the location for it yet, so it waits to happen. Pots are so great as an addition. Your garden is going to look so amazing!

that would be ella, aka "peanut" - she goes everywhere with me and loves exploring the yard. =)

the strawberry barrel sounds awesome! i seem to never have luck with strawberries, but i might try to grow them again next year. one year i had them and i only got like three strawberries, not sure what happened. so if you have any tips please share!

xx-t
It's going to be so green and lush soon! What a great thing to have to look at all summer. I like the picture with your dog because she's cute, but also because it showcases your awesome front porch railing. Oh, and we drive the same car. Like the same color too I think, though mine is a limited so it has a neat chameleon paint job. In most light, it is the same color as yours.

sadly my "toaster" as i call it, is the purple color - and missing a hubcap. the poor toaster has been through quite a bit, including being smashed into last fall. every little ding is giving it more character. i keep saying i need to get a hubcap - it fell off a few years ago...its still not replaced haha poor toaster - but i love it, i just wish it was a different color. any time i see the steel grey ones i get so sad - but i've had it since 2006 (it's a 2004) and will drive it til it dies!
Wow, I need your help with landscaping! I want to start a garden, but I think it might be too hot already. :/ Your yard is gorgeous!

there are still things that can be planted- plus you can also always have it ready for fall plantings!
So lovely! I really dig the idea of having a garden in the front yard, it just adds a whole other element to it. And your raised beds look really wonderful!

thanks amanda! yeah we are so excited, we were just outside checking out the radishes - things are almost ready to start picking! woo hoo
My goodness, things are coming along so nicely. I'm super jealous. I haven't even planted my garden yet. I wanted to do it this week, but it's been raining. Boo!

yeah our weather has been super wonky too - the past two weeks its rained nearly every night but most days have been dry. But the temperatures have been crazy - either in the 40's-50's, or sky high in the 90's and HUMID. this next week its supposed to be in the 60's- 70's, which is my perfect weather, so we'll see.
