This past weekend we had unbelievably warm weather here in Central New York. It was in the mid to high 50's and all the snow (we has at least two feet on the ground) has melted, leaving mud piles everywhere! Oh yes..our kitchen has furry, four legged footprints tracking around in random patterns.
The mister remembered there was a house auction out toward Syracuse on Saturday so we headed out, but the auction had already started. When we got out there, cars were everywhere. The streets were full and people were just crawling out of the woodwork. There were so many people, we couldn't even get into the tent. So, reluctantly we got back into our car and left. I was really sad because they had some great 50's goodies and I couldn't get in!
Having no other plans, and now having an inkling to want to look at other people's used treasures, we went to some antique shops we've never been to.
One of the shops we went to was a shop that is four floors of antiques in an old brick building. My parents have been many times, but we never have. It was a nice shop but the antiques were sort of foo-foo (aka expensive, gigantic furniture pieces) type of antiques. I gravitate toward industrial and mid century. But it was fun just walking around a new place and getting out of the house. Plus, a bonus is that Stella's Diner is right next door! So yummy lunch was to be had following a couple hours of browsing.
Sunday was a whirlwind of baking, blogging and working on label designs for my new soaps. Come back tomorrow to check in on one of my gramma's recipes for banana bread. It's so good and is usually a staple in our kitchen.
How did you spend your weekend?
